High School Graduation!

Well, Graduation for the Class of 2009 did arrive.
I really don't like my kids getting older and leaving home.
We are so proud to have Porter graduating this year.
Sis. Merrilee Terry, the band teacher, taught some boys how
to play the Bag Pipes. They played during the ceremony.
They only started playing in January, and boy that was really neat.
I hope they do that every year. I can't believe they learned how to
play that well in just 5 months.

This is Porter being congratulated by the Superintendent, Robert Johnson.
He also happens to be our Stake President.

Finally made it! Has the diploma in his hand!

The "throwing of the hat" tradition.
I should post on here all the 'hotties' that
came up and congratulated Porter.
He thinks girls don't like him....yea right.
Congratulations Porter!
We Knew you Could Do It!
We Love You!

Porter's Graduation Announcements

These are Porter's Graduation announcements I made. I was almost finished and Mellissa & Chuck got here, she helped me make a star for the 'Kanab Cowboys' Logo. I thought these turned out really well, I am so excited. Of course, no one is going to get them until after the fact...but oh well. We just want to brag anyway!

Jim has been doing some work for Page Steel while things are slow.
Down in Arizona, he came across these cement road barriers.
He has been wanting to expand our garden area,
so we have a bigger garden and can grow more things.
(translation: More work for me!)
He rented the backhoe from Page Steel, and in one day
he and the boys, put up these barriers and filled it with
the dirt the Downwards had dug out for their new addition
last summer. This has about doubled our garden area.
I really am quite excited. We really want to put in a garden this year.

This is my main man...In his Element. He loves this, running
Equipment. It's really his true passion. And he really has a
natural talent for it. I am so proud of all my guys for doing this
big project! It took one whole day, but they got it done.
Our Back Yard looks so good now too!
Now, to plant.......

The boys found a snake while they were working on the garden spot,
and had a great time playing with it. We couldn't figure out what
kind it was though. We showed it to a couple of people, and no
one had ever seen one like that. I was just glad it wasn't a Rattle Snake.
They know how I hate those things!

Porter, admiring his find.

At first they thought it was an Earth worm, but then it
was sticking out its tongue. Earth worms don't have tongues!

Band Concert Continued..

Another surprise may be that Daniel has played
the Sousa-Phone this year. He actually has played
The Tuba the last couple of years, and he approached
his band teacher about playing the Sousa-phone.
She was all over that!

The Concert turned out really well. Both Bands sounded really good
and have improved during the year.
I always like to stay and listen to Xpress sing.
Xpress is the High School Elite music singing group.
You have to try out to be in it.
Mellissa sang with them while she was in high school and
really enjoyed it. Daniel tried out in May, but didn't make it.
Maybe next year!!

Band Concerts

Many of you may not know that Nate has played the trumpet this year.
He doesn't like to practice, but I think he enjoys the class.

Good Job!

Seminary Graduation

Porter Graduated from Seminary tonight. He got a 3 year certificate because he didn't finish this whole year. He had a rough time with the teacher, and he thought "Senior" meant "You can slack off". He changed his schedule so Seminary was the first period of the day, and he slept in whenever he wanted to. I'm just greatful they let him have the 3 year certificate for the time he did attend. I guess the church policy is that if they don't earn the credit during the senior year they aren't supposed to graduate. But Bro. Jensen called him the night before and told him they were going to let him participate in the graduation. I was really greatful. It made MY day! I love you Porter! You are an awesome kid...you will go far!

We are BORING!

Along with calling my class "Blogging Club", as I was working on my blog between class dates, Daniel asked me why I was doing a blog anyway, since "we are so boring, there will never be anything to write about". Well, there you have it. Out of the mouth of babes. Problem is...He is so right! That's OK. Boring is OK with me.

The "Best Week Ever"--

In Utah, 15 year olds can now get their learner's permit as soon as they are 15. Instead of 15 and 7 months like Jed, Mellissa and Porter. So....Daniel got to get his permit, on Tuesday, April 28th. Luckily the DMV people were here until 4 pm. They used to only stay until 1 or 2 pm. I thought we would miss them because I don't get off work until 2:30. So Daniel has been the Chauffer around here...at least with me in the car.

He had also applied for his first summer job a few weeks ago. He applied to be a life guard at the Kanab City Pool. This Pool only opened last 4th of July, very new and nice. Well he found out at the end of the week that he had been picked to be a life guard and got the job.

He was driving the next week, and said to me, "last week was the BEST WEEK EVER!". I asked him why it was so great. He replied that he had his birthday, got his permit to drive and found out he got his first job, all in the same week. It WAS the BEST WEEK EVER.

"Blogging Club"

Uncle Ben called while I was at the blogging class I posted about earlier that my friend taught at the local Technical college. Daniel answered the phone, and told him I had gone to "Blogging Club". Did any of you know it's a "Club"? Ben got a big kick out of that, now I just learned my friend is going to teach an advanced blogging class. I am definitely going to take it! Does that mean I am going to "Super Blogging Club"? LOL, priceless.
